Massage Services

Massage originated thousands of years ago and has since developed into a recognized therapy for the treatment of orthopaedic and neurological disorders. Licensed massage therapists are extensively trained in the safe application of manual mobilization of soft tissue and trigger points. Massage is categorized as relaxation or therapeutic designed to:

Relaxation

  • Reduce pain
  • Reduce muscular tension
  • Improve circulation and lymph drainage
  • Reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress

Therapeutic

  • Reduce pain
  • Improve joint mobility
  • Increase flexibility
  • Improve muscle imbalances

Sports Massage

  • Techniques to facilitate and enhance performance prior to exercise
  • Massage techniques to facilitate recovery post-exercise

Prenatal Massage

  • To assist in pain and stress relief often associated with pregnancy
  • Patient positioning is carefully planned to reduce pain and take into consideration you and your baby's comfort
  • Available to expectant mothers after the first trimester.

Myofascial Release

  • Specific massage techniques to address areas of increased muscle and myofascial tone often referred to as "trigger points"
  • Myofascial release focuses on reducing pain by easing the tension and tightness in the trigger points.

Schedule

Massage services are offered at three Quarry Physiotherapy locations by one or more of our experienced massage staff as per the following schedule:

Stonewall: Monday - Friday (Saturdays 1-2 x / month, call for details)
Gimli: Monday - Friday (and select Saturdays during the summer)
Arborg: Monday, Thursday and Fridays. Call for specific times.

Referral and Direct Billing Information

A referral from a physician is not necessary to access treatment, however it may be required for coverage by your insurance plan. Direct billing to many private insurance plans including Blue Cross is possible as a service available to you.
